It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Arthur
K. Bolton on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Winnipeg at the age of 91 years. Art
experienced heart and knee problems and finally cancer in his last years.
Art is survived by his beloved wife Daphne of 65 years of
marriage. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard; parents, Charles and Irene
Bolton.
Arthur was born in Earlestown, Newton-le-Willows,
Lancashire (Merseyside), England on October 20, 1923. He was educated in the
area and worked there briefly before volunteering for R.A.F. Aircrew in 1942.
Art’s service career took him to Canada in 1943 where he trained as a Navigator
at #5 A.O.S Stephenson Field, Winnipeg. During his time there he met his future
wife, Daphne. Returning to England in January 1944 he furthered his Navigation
training at several R.A.F. Stations before joining #15 Squadron at Mildenhall
to fly in Lancasters over Europe for 30 missions. Following that Art
transferred to Transport Command and after additional training was assigned to
#10 Squadron in Poona, India. There he flew throughout India and spent several
months in Burma before transferring back to England and de-mobilization in
September 1946.
Art obtained a berth on a ship bound for Canada and landed
in Winnipeg late in 1946. After working briefly for CNR he joined Gutta Percha
& Rubber and was with them and various affiliated companies, finally Fort
Garry Automotive Industries, until 1970. At that time he left to join Silver
Heights Medical Group as Business Manager staying there until retirement in
1986.
On November 5, 1949 Art and Daphne were married. They
enjoyed Contract Bridge, bowling, curling, golf and travel together (including several
trips to the U.K.), in later years spending many vacations in Kauai, Hawaii and
cruising. Art was particularly fond of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra,
Manitoba Opera and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. He also enjoyed his collection of
music on records, tape and CD’s.
In compliance with Arthur’s wishes, there will not be a
Funeral Service. His Interment will be held in St. John’s Cathedral Cemetery,
135 Anderson Avenue.

On Monday, January 26, 2015, at Health Sciences
Centre, Arlie peacefully passed away at the age of 79, after a courageous
battle with heart disease. She was
surrounded by her loving family who will miss her dearly.
Left to lovingly remember Arlie are her remaining
family, Jack Watts (brother-in-law, dear); niece, Lauren Derby (Eric); nephew,
Jeff Watts (Jackie); niece, Allyson Watts (Lee Bushell); great nephews, Chris
Derby (Jana), David Derby (Tanya), Jonathan Watts, James Watts (Izzy Wright);
great niece, Danielle Watts (Jacob Figler); great-great nephews, Ethan and Jack
Derby and great-great niece Alexa Derby. She was predeceased by her parents and
her life-long friend and sister, Bernice Watts. Arlie would light up when
speaking of, or visiting her family members. When being told she was a Great
Aunt, Arlie retorted, “I was under the impression I already was.” Arlie will
also be missed by her many cousins and friends, who live throughout Canada and
the world.
Arlie was the second daughter of Olie and Margaret
Johnson, born in Swan River Manitoba. As a young girl she moved to various
towns in Manitoba as her father was a CNR Station Agent. Arlie came to Winnipeg to go to Normal School
and then taught for a year in Souris, Manitoba. She then decided to return to
Winnipeg to take a business course and worked as an Administrative Assistant,
for many years at Hay Public Relations, and finished her career at the CFIB
(Canadian Federation of Independent Business).
After her retirement, Arlie joined friends in
walking and coffee outings, playing Bridge, and cheering for the Blue
Bombers. She also enjoyed many meals and
celebrations with friends and family.
Arlie was courageous in the face of tremendous health challenges
particularly at the end of her life, but it did not stop her from living her
life to the fullest. She is now at peace, no more pain, or medication or
machines. Rest well, dear one, we love
and miss you. We hope you are enjoying playing bridge with your Mum, Dad and
Bernice, they now have their fourth. We all look forward to seeing you again in
time.
In keeping with Arlie's wishes, there will be no
formal service. However, at a future
date, she will be interred with her parents in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, and a
party will be held in her honour.

Stroke Foundation or CancerCare Manitoba would be most appreciated.

GEORGE JOSEPH ABGRALL
Peacefully, George
passed away after his courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his family on
Sunday, January 25, 2015 at the age of 82 years.
Left to cherish
George’s memory are his beloved wife Anita of 54 years of marriage; and will be
greatly missed by his five children; sons, Jean-Marc, Andre, Rene (Kaye);
daughters, Julie (Andrew), Ginette (Travis); thirteen grandchildren, Jacques
(Stephanie), Derric, Justin, Curtis, Aaron, Andrea, Colwyn, Aidan, Chloe, Tiah,
Shea, Brynne, Aislyn; and three great
grandchildren, Landon, Grayson, and Aria. He is also survived by sisters,
Suzanne, Christiane; brothers, Andre and Victor; many cousins, nephews and
nieces. He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Lucie Abgrall, three
brothers, Louis, Robert and Raymond; sisters Lilliane and Yolande, and daughter
in law Sharon (nee Leost) Abgrall.
Born in Treherne, MB.
George was one of ten children born to French immigrants who settled later in
St. Laurent, MB. He had several life occupations, as a saw mill operator at the
age of 15 years on Vancouver Island, then as a NATO peace keeper with the Royal
Canadian Horse Artillery 27th Regiment. After honorary discharge George became
a Master Barber and had barber shops in Pine Falls, Winnipeg, Surrey and
Abbotsford, BC and lastly Gillam, MB. He
then became a Winnipeg Transit Bus Driver for 21 years until his retirement in
1998. George was also a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion No.100 for
over 35 years.
George and Anita
enjoyed their retirement years at the cottage, travelling abroad, dancing,
playing cards, and spending quality time with their family. He travelled
thousands of miles to watch his children and grandchildren in all their various
activities. He was a self-proclaimed “rabid” lifelong hockey fan of the Toronto
Maple Leafs and an enthusiast of current affairs.
Funeral Mass will be
celebrated on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual
Help Roman Catholic Church, 4588 Roblin Boulevard @ Grant Avenue, with Rev.
Msgr. Maurice Comeault P.H. presiding.
We would like to thank Dr. J. Gingerich and staff at Cancer
Care Manitoba, Home Care Palliative Team, Grace Hospital and the Grace Hospice
staff for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cancer Care
Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
