WOJCIK'S FUNERAL CHAPEL - EVELYN EPP FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

EVELYN EPP
(nee FUNK)

Surrounded by her loving daughters, Valerie (Aarle), Alison (Bruce Rockwell), Karen (Tony Gaspur), Melanie (Scott), and Michelle (Jean-Paul Delorme), Evelyn passed away peacefully in her residence at the age of 77 years, on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Evelyn cherished her fourteen precious grandchildren, Meghan (Justin Cameron), Kyle, Jodie (Igor Juric), Skot, Jordy, Damon, Trevor, Brenden, Amy, Jesse, Shay, Jena, Danielle, and Joel; three great-grandchildren, Matea, Griffin, and Adela; brothers, Menno Funk and Otto Funk (Margaret); as well as her sister Lydia (Abe Klassen). Our wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was predeceased by her parents, Jacob N.H. Funk and Katherine Funk (Harms); as well as her brother, Edwin Funk (Tina); and Margaret Funk, all of Altona, Manitoba.
Mom grew up in the school district of Schoenau on a farm near Altona, Manitoba. She was nurtured into faith by family and church, and baptized in the Altona Bergthaler Church. She had a strong faith and lived her life according to it. In 1956, Mom married our father, Howard Epp of Altona, and until his death in July of 2005, they were married for 49 years. Mom and Dad moved from Altona to Winnipeg in November 1958. She loved her career that started in 1970 and spanned 25 years selling jewelry and watches at Eaton’s. Mom and Dad spent 27 summers at Chesley’s Resort. There were many lively family gatherings at their house on Jessie Avenue and at Chesley’s. With five daughters and fourteen grandchildren, our family home was always filled with love, laughter, and lively conversations. Mom thrived when she moved to Bethel Place four years ago. She enjoyed volunteering in the restaurant, participating in activities, and especially loved meeting with her Bible Study group. As a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, Mom had many opportunities to listen to her beloved music. She was very proud of her family and especially proud of her fourteen grandchildren. Mom had a special relationship with each and every one of them. She made time to attend as many of their sports activities, concerts, graduations, and special events as she could. Mom loved to be active and it was hard to watch her be forced to slow down due to the onset of Amyloidosis in the fall of 2013.
Evelyn’s Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street, Winnipeg, MB.
Thank you to all the people that helped our Mom and sent their prayers and well wishes during the final stages of her disease. Our family is eternally grateful.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bethel Mennonite Church, 465 Stafford Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3M 2E2.
