RICHARD WOJCIK'S WINNIPEG FUNERAL HOME - JOHN BROWN FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

JOHN ROBERT BROWN
March 4, 1951 – August 6, 2014

John passed away peacefully in his sleep after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Left to survive John are his wife of 40 years Heather; three sons and their partners, John and Leah, Graeme and Lindsay, Aaron and Justine. He will also be missed by his family: sister Judi and Bob Lapointe, Tracey and Erich, Chloe and Willow Lapointe, Kerri and Michael, Jack and Bella Webber; sister Pat Brown and Jim Beveridge, Alex and Roger, Ian and Bryanne, and Andrew Beveridge; brother-in-law Drew and Jane McNichol, Eden and Graeme Simari, and Galen McNichol; sister-in-law Sandra McNichol and David MacDonald, and Gareth McNichol; and his 93 year old mother Evelyn who grieves his passing greatly. John was predeceased by his father Jack Brown and his in-laws Cliff and Nancy McNichol.
John was born in Winnipeg and spent most of his life here. He was a charismatic man with a keen intellect who loved to learn and was always studying something new. This drive for new learning led to a varied career path: teaching, sales, management, and wherever he went, he made good and lasting friendships. John will be missed by many close friends.
Family was John’s constant. He was a hands-on dad from the beginning and the constancy of his love and guidance shaped his boys into fine young men. He was taken from them too soon but the values and love he instilled in the boys will continue to guide them.
John’s eye for detail and aesthetics was a driving force in his life. He established order, appreciated beauty, loved and created art, enjoyed gardening and found being in nature nourished his soul. He loved music and most events, even trips, were accompanied by carefully chosen music. He had a keen sense of humor, and loved to perform and entertain, especially in his younger years.
A Celebration of John’s Life is planned for Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. Norbert Arts Center located at 100 Rue des Ruines du Monastere, St. Norbert, MB.
The family would like to thank the medical people who went the extra mile and made such a difference in John’s lengthy battle, the doctors and nurses at Cancer Care and the St. Boniface Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, we would ask that all interested in honoring John make a donation in his name to the Palliative Care Endowment Fund through the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation (www.saintboniface.ca). John ended his life in this peaceful caring place.
