WOJCIK'S FUNERAL HOME - ARTHUR WOOD FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

ART WOOD

It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the passing of our father, Arthur Wood, peacefully after a lengthy illness with cancer at the age of 93.
Arthur was a much loved father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed by his son David (Patricia); daughters Judy (Stan) and Beverly (Saverio). Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Kimberly (Brent), Jason (Melissa), Brittany, Jennifer (Thomas) Lauren (Cavan) and Lance (Stephanie). Art was predeceased by his loving wife Helan of 68 years (they were married in 1944 while Dad was still serving in the Royal Canadian Air force); his parents, Inrich and Alice; five brothers; and one sister.
Creativity came easily to our Dad, building his first home for his family just after the Second World War and continuing with boat building as well as constructing a 30ft RV and building a 5th Wheel trailer in our back yard. Art and Helan travelled coast to coast across Canada and many parts of the USA, wintering in Texas for many years.  Dad had a keen interest in many areas and always had a project on the go. He was self-taught in everything he tackled. He started painting in his youth and was an avid painter throughout most of his life. Dad’s interest varied from pottery to stained glass, model railroads and ceramics, leaving behind many wonderful works of art for his family to enjoy and cherish.
Dad had many stories to tell of his adventurous youth. He always had a dry wit and a wonderful sense of humor.
The family will hold a private Celebration of Art’s Life.
We would like to thank the many people who surrounded Dad during his illness with Cancer, his visiting palliative care nurse, Richard, with whom Dad had a special connection, as well as the wonderful staff and volunteers at the Grace Hospice for the loving care he received for the final five and a half months of his life.
If you choose, a donation in Art’s memory may be made to the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3J 3M7.
